Well, this feels weird…again…

I’m back, but only because a member pulled my arm to post this here.

Now, I know the last post mentioned Distilled Dollar’s 4-year Endgame and how I am officially exiting the “blogging,” world.

But, I’m back to do one thing: share ONE discovery I made that changed my 2019 for the better.

This is the same reason I abandoned blogging about F.I.R.E. and why nearly two-thirds of my members have committed to I.R.O.N. over F.I.R.E.

F.I.R.E.? Or I.R.O.N.?

Having grown up in the Financial Independence space since 2016, I immediately became exposed to other frugal bloggers and anyone looking to “retire early”.

Here was my first discovery of F.I.R.E. in 2014.

Over the years of researching and writing, I was one of the lucky few to have been picked up and featured and my message of saving 50k in 1 year by tripling our savings rate due to 17 strategies has now been viewed by people around the world.

In the past 3 years, over 4 millions fans have either listened, viewed, or read my message on FIRE.

But wait.

I wish it would have been zero people, because…

I was giving out the wrong information the entire time!

I’ll tell you via this story.

Yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of my first Ironman event.

For anyone unfamiliar with Ironman triathlons, you basically swim, bike, run, and then pass out before eating 6,000-8,000 calories the next day.

On race day, I ended up burning over 10,000 calories.

This “CRAZY,” is the same reaction I get when I tell people about F.I.R.E.

Just like triathlon, some people get it and it hooks and they’re on board for life.

Others simply can’t even begin to identify with WHY or HOW and they disregard the idea entirely. They shut off their minds to the possibility. Or, they say things like “they’re just lucky,” or, “well, of course, they can do that, but I can’t.”

One way or another, F.I.R.E. is viewed as extremely radical by most people.

This is where I.R.O.N. comes in.

What is I.R.O.N. and how does it compare to F.I.R.E.

Have you ever noticed how a flame will flicker back and forth, whipped by the wind, and yet still manage to stay alit, albeit just barely.

Or, how a larger fire may even roar upwards and down, with an insatiable rush almost to touch the sky, before falling back down.

Fire by nature is wild, uncontrollable, and can even destroy people who get in too deep.

The same holds true for people pursuing F.I.R.E. – because it appears radical. It IS radical.

I’ve had countless phone calls with a spouse, or a boyfriend or girlfriend telling me their significant other is “not listening,” and that they are “not on board,” or “they just don’t get it!”

When change is abrupt, sudden, or drastic, people can easily say no and often do say no.

“Financial Freedom doesn’t come easy. Financial Freedom comes from struggling growth” – Grant

If you’re like me – you can recall those high school sports days where you struggled, together, as a team – to get to that next level.

Maybe you had a coach or just someone who pushed you a little further, to go a little faster, or jump a little higher.

Maybe you were in the Math club and your teacher demanded the best from you because they knew when you put your mind to it – you could be one of the best.

Or maybe you just felt empowered to be with a team and knew you could work harder because they were also working harder towards the same goal.

This outside belief and this community aspect are why I created I.R.O.N.

Or, more accurately, the community built I.R.O.N. to further fast track financial freedom.

The best analogy I can concisely use to describe IRON vs FIRE: Imagine a searing hot iron similar to this post’s cover photo. The iron does not look flashy or fancy and the difference is clear. The intensity is controlled. Almost a calm, cool, confidence occurs despite the heat from the IRON being hotter than fire.

Over the next week, I’ll be sharing with anyone interested why I.R.O.N. is the most sustainable and scalable path towards F.I.R.E and more, which allows the crazy intensity to be more controlled and allow for a more enjoyable experience.

That’s it for today! More on this topic and how I.R.O.N. can transform your approach later this week.

Thanks, and Enjoy!
